- Description
- It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), to negotiate on a sole source basis with Ms. Victoria M. Waters to provide copy or limited cataloging of 700-939 monographs in the Russian language. The services will include applying the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, 2nd Edition (Revised 1998) (AACR2R) and the Library of Congress Rule Interpretations (LCRIs) to descriptive cataloging and verification of name/series access points in the online authority file, assigning NLM Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) descriptors and assigning class numbers to each monograph using the NLM Classification or the Library of Congress classification schemes. Personnel performing this work must have an MLS or comparable experience and expertise in the Russian language, defined as native ability or at least four years education at the college level and reading comprehension in the Russian language, required by this project. Personnel must have at least five years experience in performing original cataloging, applying AACR2 and LCRIs, preparing authority records using the same rules and rule interpretations. The work shall be performed off-site and requires cable or DSL remote access to the Voyager integrated library system. Ms. Waters has the required Masters in library science and is a trained librarian, with an in-depth knowledge of more than five years experience in cataloging applying AACR2R and the Library of Congress Rule Interpretations (LCRIs), and experience in a wide variety of foreign languages including the particular Russian language skill required by this project. Ms. Waters also has experience in cataloging biomedical materials, including experience in using MeSH and the NLM Classification. The proposed acquisition will be procured under FAR Part 13 -- Simplified Acquisitions. This notice of intent is not a Request For Quotations (RFQ), nor is an RFQ available, however, all responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by the NLM. Firms interested in responding to this notice must be able to provide professional service as stated above. Responses should sufficiently demonstrate the firm's ability to meet the government's requirements. Responses are required within fifteen (15) calendar days from the publication date of this notice.
