Description
W-Crane Rentalat Chicago District Stone Dock, Chicago, Illinois This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for rental of crane and services to load stone at Calumet Harbor, IL. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Request for quotations to furnish an unmanned crawler crane with a minimum of 100 feet of boom and maximum allowed counterweight to lift a 20 ton stone and an estimated 5000 lbs. of "hook" & rigging at a 60 feet radius and a 10 ton stone at a 80 feet radius. The lifting capacity of the following crane has been examined and has been found to be acceptable: Manitowoc 4000W. The proposed crane rental period is for 2 months commencing with delivery 5 days after award. The rental period shall be for a minimum of one month, and the likelihood of a second month, but should the lease be terminated prior to completion of a second month, rental shall be prorated on the number of calendar days rented. The crane will be used on the US Army Corps of Engineers Stone Dock at the mouth of the Calumet River at Chicago, IL. Road access is available via the adjacent USX Property (formerly US Steel South Works) with entrance at 86th street off South Shore Drive, Chicago, IL. The crane shall be ready to operate no later than 5 days after delivery. Suppliers shall quote a separate line item for the total cost of one mobilization and one demobilization of the crane (includes the delivery, assembly/disassembly if required, testing and return). The supplier of the rental crane shall be required to test the crane in accordance with us Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health requirements Manual EM385-1-1. The government will normally supply a Corps of Engineers certified crane operator and oiler to man the crane and perform operational maintenance. Repair of the crane if mechanical breakdown occurs should be included in the cost of the rental. However, any damage to the crane caused by government operator negligence is the responsibility of the government. There is a high probability that a contractor furnished crane operator and oiler may be required for a significant part of the rental period. A separate line item quotation is requested for an 8 hour day straight time rate for both operator and oiler. Award will be to lowest bidder who availability meets the schedule for the combined cost of 2 month crane rental, mobilization/demobilization, and 20 8-hour straight time days of crane operator/oiler labor. However payment will be made for the actual time used. Partial payments are authorized. No award can be made to a contractor who is not listed in the Central Contractors Registration. Registration may be completed by fax or online at http://www.ccr2000.gov. All responsible sources may submit a quotation that shall be considered by the agency. Quotations for the services described above are due by 4 P.M. Central Daylight Time on 8/20/01 and may be faxed to Deborah O'Donnell, CELRC-CT, Fax number 312-353-2141. Questions regarding this procurement must be submitted in writing via fax no later than 8/17/01.
