Description

The Respiratory Diseases Branch of the Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has a requirement for a collaborative, multifaceted clinical and basic research effort focused on the prevention of Group B Streptococcal Disease (GBS) infection and disease. This effort will include epidemiological studi es in selected populations to further understand the nature of GBS infection, and on studies of the host immune response to GBS. It is envisioned that one contract will be awarded, with the contractor coordinating the effort through the use of sub contracts with laboratories and clinical centers to provide patient populations and/or competences in particular areas of re search that complement the abilities and populations available to the primary offeror. It is anticipated that the proposed contract resulting from this RFP will be for a period of five (5) years, beginning appro ximately on July 1, 2002.
