Description

The National Science Foundation (NSF)is soliciting quotes for the following items: Item #1 Server; Pentium III, 1GB RAM, 256K Cache, with 2 8GB or larger Disk (Raid 1) each, 5-year premium support, with Windows 2000 Advanced Server. This item will allow the end user to implement a failover strategy by clustering two database servers into what is essentially a mirror image server configuration. To achieve this clustering requires the Windows 2000 Advanced Server edition and a special installation/configuration by someone with clustering expertise. Quantity -- 2. Item #2 HSSDC/DB-9 Fibre Channel, Copper, 12 Meter Cables. Quantity -- 4. Item #3 provides the disk storage. This item is for an upgrade to the current disk array (a Dell component). The end users current configuration includes a disk array accessible through a System Area Network (SAN). Both items 1 & 3 should have coverage for 5 years of expert level of support. Experience has shown that servers outlast the standard 3 year support service agreement. This leaves the end user without critical support in the out years when they are migrating to a new platform
