Description

The Federal Trade Commission requires point-to-point metropolitan connectivity between its headquarters at 600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC and a new satellite building located at 601 New Jersey Avenue, NW. The FTC is conducting market research to identify sources to provide fiber connectivity between the sites that will support the following data bandwidth requirements: 1) Fiber span will support IEEE 802.3z requirements for 1000baseLX/LH; 2) Fiber span will support the future IEEE 802.3ae 10 Gigabit Ethernet standards; and, 3) Packets transmitted on this media will retain all bit information including Quality of Service. In addition, a Service Level Agreement that will minimize downtime related to outages caused by damage to the fiber from construction or natural disasters will be required. This is a Sources Sought Synopsis and is not a Request for Proposals (RFP); it is a market research tool being utilized to determine the availability of potential sources. This is not an RFP and does not commit the Government to award a contract, now or in the future. No solicitation is available at this time. Any information submitted by respondents as a result of this synopsis is strictly voluntary. This synopsis is for information planning purposes and the Government will not pay or otherwise reimburse respondents for information submitted. Responsible sources may submit their written statement of interest and capabilities (including GSA contract information, if any). This statement shall not exceed ten (10) pages in length.
