Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 RFI FOR LOW TEMPERATURE FREEZER AND STORAGE OPTIONS FOR SCIENCE SAMPLE PAYLOADS IN SUPPORT OF THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION. The purpose of this amendment is to provide answers to questions received. The questions are as follows: Question 1. The picture did not come through on the web site, nor did it download. Answer: The picture of the Sample Card Example is included as an attachment to this amendment at URL http://jsc-web-pub.jsc.nasa.gov/bd01/card.jpg Question 2. This question applies to both the single and the double mid-deck locker RFI. Please clarify the cold volume definition. Does the entire cold volume have to be available to the payload? Or, can there be phase change material included in the cold volume as long as a payload of 7x7x11 inches is accommodated? Answer: This applies to all the Storage Unit RFIs, including single and double mid-deck locker formats. Please insert the word usable as shown in the "Cold Volume and Access" section so that it reads" of total usable cold volume ." This makes the text consistent with that of the Freezer Unit RFIs. The primary design goal is to have a cold volume of the dimensions stated in each RFI, with the entire cold volume being available for payload and no PCM (non-payload) materials occupying that same volume. If the potential vendor determines that this goal is not achievable for their design, then the next goal should be to accommodate at least; one (1) 7"x7"x11" payload in the reduced volume for the 1 MLE Unit, and two (2) 7"x7"x11" payloads in the reduced volume for the 2 MLE Unit.
