Description

BLM, BC-660 has a requirement for maintenance to support existing proprietary hardware/software currently being utilized to meet the Bureau's photogrammetic requirements. Purchase Order NAP010064 will be awarded to Z/I Imaging Incorporated (Z/I)on a sole source basis for the following reasons: Current hardware and software configuration constitutes an integrated system. The hardware and software, through Carl Zeiss proprietary firmware, symmetrize to form a complete solution to the Bureau's photogrammetic requirements. All requested maintenance service is in support of Carl Zeiss proprietary systems. Z/I Imaging Corporation, formerly of Carl Zeiss, Inc. possesses the proprietary rights, and constitutes the sole source support/service for the entire current system. Hardware support and service maintenance is dependent on supply, capability, and reliability of replacement parts. Mission requirements include litigation driven projects to meet court-mandated deadlines. Commercial-off-the-shelf third party components that are compatible with the existing analytical stereoplotter system are not available for all replacement components. Software requires support and service of a unique and specialized type. Requested maintenance is in support of Carl Zeiss proprietary software. Z/I Imaging Corporation is the sole source available that can ensure current photogrammetry capabilities are not degraded due to unforeseen catastrophes, such as power fluctuations or system failure.
