Description
The Postal Service is seeking Qualification Statements from construction companies wishing to be Prequalified for award of a Fixed Price Contract for construction of the Lamar Station in Corpus Christi, Texas to be located at the southwest corner of Everhardt Road and Lamont Street. The masonry building will include steel columns and a suspended slab built on piers with an approximate gross are of 19,940 square feet, including the loading dock. Work includes landscaping, irrigation system, concrete pavement, exterior luminaries, fence, carrier's canopy, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, ceramic and VCT tiles, electronic surveillance system, Postal store, casework, interior and exterior signage, criminal investigative office with toilet facilities, intrusion detection system, CCTV system, post office boxes and lockers, a 20-year NDL roofing system over a metal deck and other work typical of a customer service facility. All areas and work described are approximately; exact areas will be denoted on pland ans specifications to be issued with the request for proposal. Drawings and specifications will be provided by USPS defining the Scope of Work. Total period of construction of the project will be 365 calendar days. Estimated cost range is between $1,900,000.00 and $2,200,000.00. Only the most qualified contractors will be prequalified. To be considered for Prequalification: the company must be financially capable; five (5) years experience as a construction company; and the completion or ongoing to three (3) comparable projects within the past five (5) years. Comparable projects are defined as post offices, carrier annexes, office buildings, warehouses, and light industrial buildings. The contractors Qualification Statement will be evaluated in accordance with the following criteria listed in order of importance: EXPERIENCE/PERFORMANCE, and CAPABILITIES: -- Organization, Backlog, Financial Capability, Bonding and Banking. The Postal Service intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) to Prequalified firms only. The Postal Service will select the offer that provides the best value to the Postal Service. Qualification Statement packages are available now and may be obtained by sending a written request to Dallas, Facilities Service Office, P.O. Box 667180, Dallas, TX 75266-7180, Attn: Mary-Ellen Bothwell. Prequalifiation statements are due by Tuesday, September 7, 2001. The completed Qualification Statement should be delivered via one of the many services provided by the Postal Service or hand delivered to Dallas Facilities Service Office, 7800 N. Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, TX 75247-4217. Qualification statements will not be returned.
