Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate with Aerotech, Incorporated on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR Part 13.106-1(b), Soliciting from a single source, for the purchase of the following equipment: Linear Ballscrew Stages, Stepping Motors and Controllers; Interface; Cabling and Integration. This equipment will be used for an existing Line Scale Interferometer, which utilizes Aerotech mechanical positioning equipment. The items specified are matching Aerotech stages and the subsequent stepping motors, and associated controllers, and cabling necessary to meet the requirements of the Atomic Displacement Metrology project. The use of equipment other than Aerotech would necessitate further manpower expense integrating to existing equipment or the replacement of existing equipment. The delivery time for this requirement is 12 weeks after receipt of order and the delivery shall be FOB Destination to Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Government anticipates awarding a firm-fixed price purchase order. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotes by August 21, 2001. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) package is not available. The NAICS code for this requirement is 335314 with a small business size standard of 500 employees. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
