Description
Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) is conducting a survey to determine the level of interest by contractors, to a proposed Tactical Aircraft Directed Infrared Countermeasures (TADIRCM) technology maturation effort. TADIRCM consists of two (2) subsystems: infrared missile warning system and a directed infrared countermeasure system intended to be operationally deployed on tactical aircraft. The system will defend the host aircraft from infrared-guided attacking missiles by detecting the approaching threat and disabling it through the use of directed laser energy. The system should provide full coverage about the host aircraft and survive extreme thermal, vibration, and other environmental conditions experienced by tactical aircraft. This is currently a non-acquisition program that will take a prototype system that demonstrates this technology, and improve the components that lack the technical maturity, in order to reduce the risk of the system as it possibly transitions to an acquisition program. The tactical aircraft platform integrator will be contacting potential vendors for initial data gathering. Requests for further information should be in writing to draperkp@navair.navy.mil.
