Description
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to negotiate a Purchase Order with the University of Texas to conduct a study entitled, "Update of the TEXAS Model." The TEXAS Model was originally written to serve as a single intersection analysis tool and was designed to be a path based ultra detailed model. Now, the TEXAS Model needs to be expanded in both areas of ITS technologies and driver behavior model. And as a result, a variety of areas need examination for possible enhancement or extension of the TEXAS Model. The University of Texas' Professor Clyde Lee was the developer of the TEXAS Model and Professor Tom Rioux programmed the code for the model. Both professors have used the TEXAS Model to evaluate numerous signalized and unsignalized design and operation strategies for single intersections. These individuals are uniquely qualified to update the TEXAS Model because they developed the original model and the program code and have updated and modified the code a number of times. Additionally, the code belongs to University of Texas and the State of Texas and therefore they are the only known source that can successfully update the TEXAS Model. =20 This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is September 3, 2001.
