Description
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to negotiate a Purchase Order with the International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC) to develop a national technical workshop entitled, "Ground Improvement Technology-Micropiles." The workshop will include current recommended practice in feasibility, design construction, contracting methods and quality procedures for various types of soils and geotechnical conditions around the United States. The program will be targeted at Federal and State transportation specialists involved in the design, construction, and specification development of geotechnical features for transportation facilities. ADSC seeks to advance the state-of-the-art in the foundation drilling and geo-support industries through establishing standards and specifications, conducting Drilled Shaft Foundation, Geo-Support and Micropile Design and Construction Seminars, publishing monthly magazines and maintaining a technical library. ADSC committee members consist of leading design engineers, specialty contractors, manufacturers and suppliers servicing the micropile industry will perform this project. Because ADSC assembled the Micropile Committee that is vital to the successful completion of this project and have extensive knowledge and experience on micropiles, they are the only known source that can complete this project. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is September 3, 2001.
