Description

U.S. Army, TACOM-ARDEC is planning a sole source contract award to Computer Aided Engineering Solutions (CAES) Corporation, 40935 Camero Place, Fremont, CA 94539 for the research, development, improvement and support of the Javalin hydrodynamic code. A sole source Justification and Approval document was approved on 23 Aug 01 by the Competition Advocate, TACOM-Warren based on FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source, being CAES Corp. This notice of intent is NOT a request for competitive proposals. TACOM-ARDEC plans to discuss and negotiate directly with CAES Corp. based on a contractor/government team and a draft solicitation/model contract. Requirements include generation of code modifications to the Vec-Dyna hydrodynamic code to correct problems with sliding interface and contact fracture during predictions of liner formations of advanced warheads. Javalin will be used to generate advanced EFP liner designs for the Collinear, Ultralong, APS, ESL and multi-mode programs. Further technical requirements were included in the Sources Sought Notice with the same solicitation number above. The government does not anticipate any other responses; however, will review any responses submitted in accordance with Note 22 and 26.
