The work at the Center is directed toward new propulsion, power & communications technologies for application to aeronautics and space. Audience: There are over 3600 employees at NASA Glenn Research Center, including civil service employees and support service contractors. Over half of them are scientists and engineers, who plan, conduct or oversee, and report on the research tasks and projects of the Center. They are assisted by technical specialists, skilled workers, and an administrative staff. Wright-Patterson AFB Hope Hotel & Conference Center Dayton, Ohio October 24, 2001 Facility Mission: Wright-Patterson is one of the most diverse and organizationally complex bases in the Air Force and is the headquarters for the Air Force Materiel Command. Approximately 21,000 military and civilian government employees work at Wright-Patterson, making it the largest employer in the state of Ohio at a single location and the largest employer among U. S. Air Force bases worldwide. The mission of WPAFB includes logistics management, research and development, education, flight operations, and many other defense related activities. WPAFB is also the headquarters for the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), which is one of the Air Force's nine major commands. AFMC's main role is to research, develop, and test all weapon systems in the Air Force. DFAS/DISA Building 21, John Glenn Room Columbus, OH October 25, 2001 The Defense Finance and Accounting Service was activated January 15, 1991, to reduce the cost and improve the overall quality of Department of Defense financial management through consolidation, standardization and integration of finance and accounting operations, procedures and systems. The DFAS Columbus Center for Accounting and Financial Services is responsible for accounting services such as chief financial officer statements, and agency and treasury reports for Department of Defense (DoD) agencies and the military services. The center is responsible for employee travel payments and other financial services. As part of the President's Electronic Commerce initiative and in cooperation with the Chief Financial Officers Electronics Commerce committee, the Defense Finance and Accounting Service is assisting with widespread adoption and implementing Electronic Commerce/Electronic Data Interchange with the DoD accounting and finance systems. And to assist the DoD and the DFAS Director's goals in achieving their electronic commerce data interchange and Electronic Funds Transfer.
