Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Canberra Industries, of Meriden, Connecticut, for a Photon/Broad Energy Germanium Detector System, to be used at the NIST Ionizing Radiation Division. The system will be used within the Division's calibration program, where both broad energy range and excellent energy resolution are essential in order for the scientists to be able to characterize the scatter contribution to the dose delivered by the radioactive sources available in the Division group.*****Canberra Industries is the only vendor able to provide a system that is completely interchangeable and fully compatible with the Division's existing Canberra instrumentation. This also drastically reduces down time caused by equipment failure or malfunctions.*****Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 90 days or less from receipt of purchase order (ARO).*****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334519, and the size standard is 500 Employees.*****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by September 5, 2001 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.=20
