Description

The Defense Supply Service-Washington (DSS-W) intends to award a sole source contract to to Dr. Elliott V. Converse III, 75 So. Reynolds St., Alexandria, VA. 22304 to prepare History of Acquisition in the Department of Defense, Vol. 1, Into the Cold War, 1 945-1958, a history of DoD acquisition based on the project directive and project plan, to include a detailed chapter outline. The work will be performed during a base year and four option years at the Center of Military History. The result will be in a m ajor scholarly work, 600-900 typescript manuscript pages, to include introductory material (preface and foreword), text, citations, bibliography, any annexes necessary, and a graphics plan, all of which will reflect the highest professional historical stan dards. The contractor will also support the overall Acquisition History Project by reviewing the work of other project historians and by providing material for the project newsletter; the archival, oral history, and case study data bases; the transcribed o ral history collection; and the hardcopy and automated archives. Finally, as the project s lead historian, the contractor will assist the Center s Chief Historian in coordinating the submission and review of all other project products.
