Description

The Defense Supply Service-Washington (DSS-W) intends to award a sole source contract to Dr. Andrew J. Butrica to prepare History of Acquisition in the Department of Defense, Vol. 4, From the Reagan Buildup to the End of the cold War, 1981-1990, a history of DoD acquisition based on the attached project directive and project plan, to include a detailed chapter outline. The work will be performed during a base year and four option years at the Center of Military History. The result will be in a major schola rly work, 600-900 typescript manuscript pages, to include introductory material (preface and foreword), text, citations, bibliography, any annexes necessary, and a graphics plan, all of which will reflect the highest professional historical standards. It should also comply with the Center of Military History s Manuel of Style and be available in an electronic format compatible to word-processing software used by the US Army Center of Military History. In addition, the contractor should be prepared to have his draft chapters reviewed by other historians working on the Acquisition History Project, the project s ad hoc advisory board, and other members of the defense historical and acquisition communities as appropriate, and revise them in accordance with the instructions and schedules of the Center s chief historian. Finally, the contractor will also support the overall Acquisition History Project by reviewing the work of other project historians and by providing material for the project newsletter and Web si te; the archival, oral history, and case study data bases; the transcribed oral history collection; and the automated archives.
