Description
The U.S. Coast Guard (CG) intends to award a sole source contract to Motorola to purchase long range, secure transceivers and their support components. The listing is as follows: (2) LST-5D/R XCVR, transceivers (4) AM-7175D power amplifiers 200 Watt, (2) PTPE-301D Preamplifiers for LST-5D, (2) PTPA-PS3 Power supply for AM-7175D 28 VDC, (2) PTHS-110 Handset, (2) PTSH-104 Remote speaker, and (2) LSCA-110 extension cables for PTSH-104. The items to be purchased to be installed on-board 2 boats as part of retrofit for the CG fleet of 110? patrol boats. They are considered sole source, as they are the last 2 boats of the fleet, all of which have been outfitted in the Motorola equipment. With the remainder of the fleet thus outfitted the continuation for the final boats allows for interchangeability and maintainability considerations. This particular equipment was initially selected due to the need to fit a powerful unit into a very small preexisting physical space. Motorola does not distribute these components outside of its company; they may be obtained only through their government procurement office in Scottsdale, AZ. Offerors who can furnish the same items listed above may submit in writing, a proposal substantiated by technical data, brochures, pictures, etc., to include pricing data. All responses must be received within 10 calendar days of this CBD notice, addressed to Commandant (G-ACS-1A/CMB), U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters, 2100 Second Street, SW, Washington, DC 20593-0001, ATTN: Christopher Burroughs. No telephone requests will be accepted. This is a commercial item requirement and the solicitation will be prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12. The solicitation will be available for release to Motorola on or about September 9, 2001. All responses submitting the required information will be fully considered. As a result of analyzing responses to this synopsis of intent, the Contracting Officer may determine that the action may be competed. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. See numbered Note 22.
