Description
The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is one of three Officers of the U.S. House of Representatives along with the Office of the Clerk and the Sergeant at Arms. The Officers, together with the Architect of the Capitol and other House offices, jointly provide a foundation of services to facilitate the work activities of the House, its Members, and staff. The current CAO organization consists of an Immediate Office and five divisions: Finance, House Information Resources (HIR), Human Resources (HR), Procurement (OP), and House Support Services (HSS). The Furniture Resource Center (FRC) is a sub-division under the HSS division. The FRC is responsible for providing, maintaining, storing, moving, and inventorying furniture and furnishings for the House. The FRC provides maintenance for over 120,000 furniture items, including casegoods, chairs, tables, and lamps. Six shops consisting of, upholstery, finishing, cabinet, drapery, carpets, and labor group support the FRC's functions. The FRC's area of responsibility covers three House office buildings (Rayburn, Longworth, and Cannon), the House side of the Capitol, and two annex (O'Neill and Ford). Within these areas, the FRC services approximately 440 Congressional Members offices, 19 full Committee offices, 2 Select Committee offices, 2 Joint Committee offices and approximately 70 Sub Committee offices. There are approximately 2200 to 2500 offices using office furniture and between 8,000 and 10,000 employees occupying these suites. The House's current furniture inventory is 99 percent traditional style, wood-veneered desks and case goods. Wood finishes are dark mahogany and walnut. The House's aging inventory of desks, the last of which were purchased in 1977, either have been restored or refinished over the past 24 years. The Furniture Resource Center is interested in awarding a contract for the repair and or restoration of a wide variety of desks, both double pedestal and secretary style with typing ells. The contractor(s) shall be responsible for: pickup and delivery of items meeting performance and quality control standards ensuring timely turn-around of these items NOTE: A Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference Requires Vendor Attendance.
