Description
 This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation is being issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ)#0007567, the provisions and clauses incorporated are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 97-27. This solicitation is under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP)and is unrestricted. The North America Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 333315. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has a requirement for the following Brand Name or Equal:(Brand Name-Gretag, Sienna Imaging Division) Qty of 1-part #89000-001 NetPrinter Digital Printer that includes Graphx Rasterplus RIP MAC Chooser, Windows Print Driver, and ToolPak software; Qty of 1-#94000-001 X-Rite Densitometer (110 VAC)(890 Model); and Qty of 1-#93805-001 Net Printer 10" Paper Magazine. A Standard Commercial Warranty is required. FOB-Destination -- Cheverly, Maryland. Requirement Specifications: a digital color printer with the ability to produce silver-based RA4 color photographic images (prints) that have been captured from a variety of high- end electronic imaging devices. Technical specifications: must provide functionality utilizing Adobe PhotoShop plug-in to output image file formats such as .tif,.jpg, .bmp, .tga etc.; must complete the entire color print process in a self-contained package without the need for darkroom or plumbing. Printing resolution must be 500 dpi, and be able to use any standard color negative RA4 print media, conventional RA4 chemistry with external chemistry replenishment and accept media sizes from 4"x6" to 12"x18"; the print process must have an acceptable printing speed of 90-12"x18", 200-8"x12", 280-4"x6" per hour, batch file printing capability, rasterization software, color densitometry system for critical color matching, and a self- contained paper processor with no need for added peripherals. Physical size of the printer must not exceed 60"L x 27"W to accommodate the limited space available. -- The above characteristics are intended to be descriptive, but not restricted. Unless clearly marked that the offeror is quoting on an "equal" the offered item shall be considered as the brand name product referenced in this announcement. If the vendor proposed to furnish an "equal" product, then the brand name of the "equal"product, if any, shall be indicated on the Request for Quotation (RFQ). The evaluation and the determination as to the equality of the product, if not brand name, shall be the responsibility of the Government and will be based on information furnished by the offeror. The Government's purchasing activity is not responsible for locating or securing any information which is not identified in the quotation and reasonably available. To ensure sufficient information is available, the offeror must furnish as a part of the quotation- all descriptive material (such as cuts, illustrations, drawings or other information) necessary for the Government to determine whether the "equal" product meets the salient characteristics of the requirement. If the offeror proposed to modify a product so as to make it conform to the requirement, then proposed modifications shall clearly be marked with descriptive materials to show modifications. The government reserves the right to request product samples which can be tested for compatibility and provided at no additional cost. FAR 52.211-6 Brand Name or Equal (Aug. 1999); FAR provision 52.212-2 Evaluation -Commercial Items (Jan. 1999); Each offeror shall include a completed copy of the FAR Provisions at 52.212-3, Offeror Representations and Certifications (May 2001) with its offer. The Government will award to the responsible offeror whose offer conforming to this solicitation will be most advantageous to the Government, price and other factors considered.
