- Description
- The US Army TACOM-ARDEC is looking for development sources for the following M139 Volcano Component: Dispenser Control Unit (DCU) Upgrade. The DCU upgrade shall be defined by a Performance Specification, performing all the functions and being compatible with all the interfaces (including packing) of the existing DCU (NSN 1095-01-260-2732; ARDEC Part Number 9366462 with container PA139, ARDEC Part Number 12553070). In addition, the DCU upgrade shall have the capability of connecting with seven launcher racks (currently four), internally incorporate the functions of the M139 Maintenance Self Tester (NSN 1095-01-259- 3211. ARDEC Part Number 12553103), have a self-contained Global Positioning System (GPS), and contain a microprocessor system with a display and software that shall enable the upgraded DCU to translate launcher rack error codes to a visual display and present interactive graphical instruction for the assembly/disassembly, loading, firing and maintenance of the M139 System. The microprocessor shall have the capability of recording, storing and displaying GPS positioning data during firing missions. The microprocessor will have a requirement to have its software easily upgradeable in the field. Prospective bidders for this item shall need to be familiar with the current M139 Volcano System (both air and ground)and be capable of supporting both component and system operational qualification testing. The estimated quantities are 4 each over a two-year development effort, and 600 each for the DCU over a three-year production period. There is an anticipated option for Logistics Support after production. The drawings for the existing items may be obtained from the point of contact listed below. Drawings contain a "Distribution D" Statement. As such, any party interested in obtaining a copy of the drawing must submit completed forms DD Form 2345 and AMSTA-AR-Form 1350. These forms will be reviewed and evaluated prior to release of any drawings. There is no current source for this item.
