- Description
- The Defense Distribution Depot Susquehanna (DDSP) located in New Cumberland, PA has a requirement to replace two (2) each existing Automated Weighing and Offering Systems (AWOS) with two (2) each new, integrated, and more efficient Dimensioning and Weighing Systems (DWAS). The Contractor shall be responsible for installing the DAWS equipment and modifying the existing conveyor system as required to interface the DAWS into the existing conveyor system. The Contractor must provide a system with includes, but is not limited to, an in-line, in-motion dimensioning unit and conveyor scale. The overhead scanner and its mounting structure shall be furnished by the Government. Contractor supplied equipment and services shall be completely compatible with all existing Government furnished/owned equipment in the facility and shall provide a complete and operable system ready for use. All other labor, equipment, material, and transportation necessary for the design and installation of the DAWS shall be provided by the Contractor. The DAWS shall be capable of processing 20,000 packages per 16 hour day, with surge capacity of 2500 packages per hour. Material to be handled consists of jiffy bags and boxed stock. Material will not be contained in totes. Material in jiffy bags will be of inconsistent sizes, shapes, and weights. The jiffy bags could be presented to the system from flat to fully expanded, causing in irregular conveying surface. Material dimensions range from 8? long by 6? wide by ?? high to the maximum 28? long by 15? wide by 18? high. Weight of material ranges from 1 ounce to 50 pounds. The in-line, in-motion dimensioning unit and scale shall be capable of measuring and weighing cartons on the move. Size and weight requirements of the material shall be as described above. The Contractor shall be responsible for disconnecting and removing the present Mettler-Toledo scale. Storage space for this scale shall be provided by the Government. The DAWS shall have variable speed capability from 0 10 165 feet per minute. The Government furnished overhead scanner shall be a Accu-Sort Model Mini X. The mounting support for the scanner shall also be government furnished. The Contractor shall be responsible for integrating the scanner and its equipment into the DAWS to provide a fully functional system.
