Description

The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory intends to purchase a set of filters for its Megacam camera to be used at the MMT telescope on Mt. Hopkins, Amado, AZ. Each filter shall be 300mm x 300mm x 9 mm thick with a clear aperture of 290mm x 290mm. The center wavelengths/full-width-half-maxima of the filters (in nanometers) are: 350/60, 475/150, 625/150, 775/150, 435/100, 540/100, 630/118, 806/157, and a longpass filter that cuts on at 830nm. Out of bound leaks shall be <10e-4 between 300nm and 1050nm. Variation in center wavelength across the filter shall be < 2nm. The desired delivery date is six (6) months after award, but not later than nine (9) months after award. Delivery will be FOB Destination, Cambridge, MA. This procurement will be conducted in accordance with FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, under subpart 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. Solicitation number RFO-WF1548 will be issued as a Request for Offer (RFO). Award will be based on price, technical proposal, delivery schedule, and past performance that includes experience in furnishing similar type and size filters. The applicable NAIC is 333314 with a size standard of 500. This procurement is not set aside for small business. All offers from responsible sources will be considered.
