Description

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is soliciting quotes for the following items: General Requirement: Two Windows servers which need to be installed and configured with MS clustering. These severs will connect into the current SAN. Also, the SAN disk array will need upgrading. Current Operating Environment: Multiple Pentium servers operating in a Windows NT domain running MS SQL Server 7. The servers connect to a SAN disk array, Dell Power Vault 650F and tape library through Gadzoox Capellix 2000G switches. The server to SAN switch connection is made through Host Bus Adapters (HBA) Qlogic 2100 and 2200, copper, with DB9 to HSSDC cables and copper GBICs in the Gadzoox switches. Specific Requirements: Two -- Servers (needs to be identical hardware which is rack-mountable for standard rack); Description for each server: Pentium 1+GHz, 256K+Cache, single processor, 1GB RAM, FSB 133+ MHz, 3.5" floopy drive, CD-ROM drive, Windows 2000 Advanced Server -- installed (W2K CD for each server), Two NICs (two embedded copper NICs, one 10/100 and one 10/100/1000 (1 for LAN, 1 for failover)), Two HBAs, copper preferred (equivalent to Qlogic 2200),2U form factor for rack, Disks: SCSI back plane splittable into 2 X 3 configuration, support for Embedded, Dual Channel, SCSI Ultra 3 RAID controller, support for up to five internal 1" SCSI hard disks, primary disk drives 8+ GB with RAID 1 configuration (disk mirroring), second set of disk drives 50+ GB with RAID 5 configuration** (striping with parity), 5-year premium support, parts and labor, on-site, 4-hour response time, On-site service includes mounting and connecting the servers within the standard rack and configuring the two servers into a Microsoft cluster. Upgrade of the current PowerVault 650F to provide the second set of disks drives** for the clustered servers. This upgrade would entail replacing all 10 disks on the PowerVault 650F with 35+ GB disks, performing an on-site upgrade of firmware and software and providing 5-year premium support, parts and labor, on-site, 4-hour response time for the PowerVault 650F. Accessories: 4 SAN cables for copper SAN connection -- HSSDC/DB-9 copper, 24 gauge, 2+ meter, w/installation, 1 DB-9 copper GBIC for fiber SAN connections -- 4 fibre channel cables, 2+ meter, with installation, 4 optical GBICs.
