Description
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Foods Safety and Nutrition (CFSAN) has a requirement for the professional services of Harold G. Graighead, PH.D., Professor and Director, School of Applied and Engineering Physics, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY to conduct a project entitled "Nanotechnology Biosensor to Identify Microbial Contamination of Foods, Biologics, and Medical Devices". This new concept in biological detectors has been pioneered by Professor Harold Craighead's research group in the Nanobiotechnology Center (NBTC) of Cornell University. In the last several years Professor Craighead's research has involved the use of nanofabrication for physical and biological applications. He is leading research efforts in nanoelectromechanical devices (NEMD) and single biomolecule analysis. To the government's knowledge, he is the only source known that possesses the design knowledge, experience, nanofabrication facilities, and publication record to develop these nanotechnology devices. Therefor, an award will be made on a sole source basis and no solicitation will result from this announcement.
