Description

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation is being issued as a Request for Quotation (SSA-RFQ-01-0526, the provisions and clauses incorporated are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 97-27. This solicitation is under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) and is 100% Small Business Set-Aside. The North America Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 421450 and the business size standard of 500 employees. This is a competitive procurement. The Social Security Administration (SSA) has a requirement for the following Brand Name or Equal: Brand Name-Evac+Chair, Quantity Required: 33, Model#300-H, Mark II. Specifications: Completely assembled and ready for use; lightweight, no more than 18 lbs.; easily stored in same area as the physically-challenged individual (foldup size maximum thickness 8"); able to support and transport maximum of 300 lbs.; easily and quickly assembled for emergency use; stable and manuverable in stairwells -- extremely important when being supplied to field, district, and regional offices located in older buildings with narrow stairs and landings, which can include buildings with 13-14 floors; must be comfortable as possible during transport down steps (smooth glide);effectively used by one individual with minimal training. Required Delivery Time: 30 Days ARO. A Standard Commercial Warranty is required. FOB-Destination to the following location: 18 chairs to Baltimore, MD 21201 and 15 chairs to Baltimore, MD 21235. The above characteristics are intended to be descriptive, but not restricted. Unless the offeror clearly indicates in its offer that the product being offered is an "equal" product, the offeror shall provide the brand name product referenced in this announcement. If the vendor proposed to furnish an "equal" product, then the brand name of the "equal "product, if any, shall be indicated on the Request for Quotation (RFQ). The evaluation and the determination as to the equality of the product, if not brand name, shall be the responsibility of the Government and will be based on information furnished by the offeror. The Government's purchasing activity is not responsible for locating or securing any information, which is not identified in the quotation and reasonably available. To ensure sufficient information is available, the offeror must furnish as a part of the quotation- all descriptive material necessary for the Government to determine whether the "equal" product meets the salient characteristics of the requirement. If the offeror proposed to modify a product so as to make it conform to the requirement, then proposed modifications shall clearly be marked with descriptive materials to show modifications.
