NASA/GRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for: Qty. 1 Each 1. Oil Less Roughing Pump 2. Turbomolecular Vacuum Pump w/IDSO 250 flange, pumping speed not less than 1950 L/S of GN2. Base pressure 7.5X10-11 Torr. 3. Turbomolecular Vacuum Pump Controller 4. Inlet Screen 5. Cooling Kit 6. Venting Valve w/adjustable delay This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GRC intends to purchase the items from Varian Vacuum Technologies, 121 Hartwell Avenue, Lexington, MA 02421. THE AUTHORITY FOR OTHER THAN FULL AND OPEN COMPETITION is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(2). NASA GRC currently have several vacuum chambers in use from Varian Vacuum that have been standardized to allow a common stock of spare parts and interchangeability between facilites to allow uninterrupted testing. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on Monday, September 24, 2001. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
