Description

This Sources Sought Announcement solicits interest for performing an analysis of the industrial base for 2.75 Inch tactical rockets. Voids in production forecasted beginning in FY04 necessitate that the PM, Aviation Rockets and Missiles consider alternatives available for production that will transition from the legacy system into the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS). The analysis will consider the existing base of potential suppliers as well as opportunities for technology insertion in the event that current sources become unavailable or unaffordable. Technologies of particular concern include fuze and rocket propulsion sectors of industry. Participation is open to all categories of organizations: industry, educational institutions, other nonprofit organizations, and U.S. Government agencies. Government consideration of any information provided will be subject to conflict of interest issues. When the need arises, a selected Offeror would be expected to: 1) Canvas current suppliers using generally available industry information and site visits as possible; 2) Articulate impacts and issues with respect to the planned program and connectivity with Joint Vision and Army strategies; and 3) recommend a strategic plan that includes key development objectives with a detailed work plan including time schedules for achieving contract objectives. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP). No RFP is available and the Government is not committed to make an award pursuant to this announcement. Interested parties should furnish two copies of their capability information NLT 29 October 2001 addressing the three areas cited above to the attention of Mr. Emil E. Maslanka at the address listed below. The capability information should not exceed 3 pages. No propriety information should accompany the response to this notice. Only written responses will be accepted. No collect calls will be accepted. All information is to be furnished at no cost to the Government.
