Description
October 22 -- 25, 2001 Dallas, Texas ANNOUNCMENT: A major conference on Systmes Engineering with focus on achieving Supportability and Interoperability of future and current DoD Weapon Systems, and reducing Total Ownership Costs, will be convened in Dallas ,Texas, October 22-25, 2001 under the auspices of the National Defense Industrial Association's Systems Engineering Committee in conjunction with the Director, Interoperability, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (AT&L), and with technical co-sponsorship by the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE). BACKGROUND: The ability to deal with modern military threats can only be realized if our weapon systems, including space-based and information systems, can achieve and sustain a high degree of Interoperability, Readiness, and Availability. Reducing Total Ownership Cost (RTOC) continues to be a key objective of the Department of Defense (DoD) as weapon system lifecycles are extended and operation and support costs dominate the budget. We believe that the greatest opportunity to achieve these objectives for new and legacy systems is through a robust Systems Engineering methodology and process. The Systems Engineering Conference is an annual event targeted at exploring this relationship and developing the know-how to achieve these often conflicting goals. CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES: This Conference seeks to create a forum for Program Managers, Systems Engineers, Chief Scientists, and Engineers and Managers from the Design, Verification, Support and Logistics communities from both Government and Industry. The conference will provide the opportunity to shape policy and procedures by exchanging innovative tactics and lessons learned in advancing the Revolution in Business Affairs to achieve the following objectives: Reduce Total Ownership Cost (RTOC) Improve Cycle Times for Design, Manufacture and Repair Processes Achieve Increased Interoperability through Systems Engineering Integrate Systems Engineering, Test, Maintenance, Diagnostic and Supportability Disciplines Sustainment and Upgrade of Legacy Systems Application of industry "best practices," tools, methodologies and technologies. Improve Systems Engineering Concepts & Practices Application of DoD Initiatives: Acquisition Reform Civil-Military Integration Performance-Based Business Environment (PBBE) Elimination of MIL-SPECS/STDS COTS Integration Open Systems & JTA Integrated Product and Process Development (IPPD) Simulation-Based Acquisition (SBA) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Global Information Grid (GIG) Integrated Risk Management Conference Registration Payment must be received at the time of registration.
