- Description
- The following questions and clarifications are provided for informational purposes only. These clarifications do not constitute a change to the requirement. The time and date for receipt of offers is not extended. 1. Question: One line in the specification says "Plastic lumber shall be reinforced with fiberglass elements to act compositely." We manufacture 100% recycled plastic timbers with fiberglass additive. Our process blends the glass fibers into a matrix with the recycled plastic. We are unsure about whether this line refers to a process which fabricates the fiberglass into some kind of core element and is surrounded by recycled plastic, or whether our process is what's called for. Can you clarify this? Clarification: Blending fibers into the matrix is acceptable. A fiberglass core surrounded by the recycled plastic is not acceptable. The specifications as written, do not call for fiberglass re-enforced bars. 2. Question: Did the last requirement contain fiberglass rebar? Clarification: No, composite chips were used. 3. Question: If plastic manufacturers meets the minimum properties of the requirement without the use of any reinforcing elements, would this be acceptable? Clarification: No. The specification calls for fiberglass elements to act compositely. This means the fiberglass elements are mixed in the recycle material during the production process. 4. Question: Does the requirement for 8 inches x 12 inches require a net size or is 7.5 x 11.5 acceptable? Clarification: 7.5 x 11.5 is not acceptable. 5. Question: Is chopped glass acceptable? Clarification: Chopped glass is acceptable.
