- Description
- This proposed effort consists of the System Integration (SI) Phase requirements of an Aircraft Wireless Intercom System (AWIS) for the Product Manager, Aircrew Integrated Systems. The AWIS consists of one Aircraft Interface Unit, one battery charger, and six Mobile Equipment units. The AWIS will provide a wireless communications capability for aircraft personnel during ground operations and while in flight. The AWIS shall also augment the current hardwired communications that will remain on the aircraft to be used should the AWIS fail. The AWIS will be capable of providing wireless communications between the crew chiefs/flight engineers, aero medical personnel, other mobile crewmembers, and the rest of the crew. Based on the Government prepared AWIS Ite m Performance Specification, contractors shall be required to conduct a functional/requirements analysis, develop alternate concepts, conduct tradeoff studies, and fabricate two each prototype systems capable of meeting as many as possible of the functiona l requirements of the item performance specification. These prototype systems shall be capable of supporting a group demonstration on U.S. Army utility and transport rotary wing aircraft. It is the Government's intent to award more than one contract to s eparate offerors under this requirement. At the end of this contract, a down-select will take place, through the use of another separate proposal and source selection evaluation, to one contractor for the System Demonstration Phase. This acquisition is u nclassified. For security purposes, the utilization of full and open competition procedures is limited to U.S. participation only. Full performance on this solicitation will require access to information that is not considered appropriate for release to foreign entities and requires access to areas not cleared for foreign representatives.
