Description

The Office of Aircraft Services intends to conduct non-competitive discussions with Viking Air Ltd., Sidney BC for the purposes of increasing the gross takeoff weight (target of 7,000 lbs.) of its uncertficated DHC-2T DeHavilland Beaver aircraft. Viking is the current aircraft manufacturer certificate holder and has performed similar testing and modifications to certificated versions of this same aircraft. No RFP is available, however firms who feel that they have expertise in this area and have performed upgrades to this aircraft may submit their capability statements, including specific information on airframe upgrades to the Contracting Officer. Furnish one Casa 212-200, or equal, contractor operated and maintained. Aircraft to be used by the Bureau of Land Management, Alaska Fire Service for initial attack on wild land fires. Aircraft will be used as an aerial platform for the deployment of airborne firefighters and their equipment and para-cargo operations. Service will include aerial observation and logistical support flights carrying passengers and/or cargo in VFR and IFR day and night conditions. Contract period is 120 days beginning May 5, 2002. The term of this contract will be one year with options to renew for an additional three years. Contractor is required to be certified under 14 CFR, Chapter 135, Air Taxi Operators and Commercial Operators. The airplane make and model shall be presently approved by the U.S. Department of Agriculture/U.S. Department of the Interior Smokejumper Aircraft Screening and Evaluation Board.
