Description
Background "NOTICE -- ASC Enterprise Business Solutions (EBS) Conference Call for Presentations The Aeronautical Systems Center (ASC) Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) is planning a one and one/half day exploratory conference for senior executives within the center. The purpose of the conference is to bring a number of key Information Technology (IT) industry leaders together with Air Force systems development executives to allow the individual industry attendees to convey facts and information concerning revolutionizing the business of Air Force systems acquisition using Information Technology. The government leaders that will attend the conference are significant not only for their impact on Air Force systems acquisition, but also for the impact of their decisions on the economic development of Ohio's Miami Valley through a budget of more than $12 billion annually. The CIO office has the responsibility for IT planning and development within ASC. The following are objectives taken from the ASC CIO's seven-year Information Technology Strategic Plan #1 Broker a Revolution in Business Affairs: Facilitate a revolution in business affairs to promote use of information technology as a catalyst for process improvements and support of mission to get capabilities into the hands of the warfighters quicker. #2 Optimize ASC IT Investment Strategy: Provide senior leadership a sound center-wide IT capital planning and investment strategy linked to goals and objectives and integrated with the Center's business processes for making cross-mission area budget, financial, and program management decisions. #3 Foundation for Leveraging IT into ASC Processes: Implement the necessary foundation (both technical and business) for supporting ASC missions in an integrated and cost effective manner. #4 Executive Leadership Access to Information: Assess how to improve executive leadership's access to needed information while minimizing workload necessary to maintain the information. Objective should be a robust executive information system with near-instant access to needed information. #5 Provide IT Reskilling: Work with the on-base and off -base communities of interest to facilitate recruiting, educating, training, and retaining the IT workforce and cross-educating IT and business personnel to meet future requirements. #6 Create an IT Home Office: Establish ASC/HP as the IT home office for ASC, responsible for support and management of all IT personnel and IT management processes across the Center to effect mission accomplishment (customer support) with a corporate perspective. These are our long-range objectives coupled with our continuous goal of enhancing AF aerospace systems development and acquisition. What we need now is a high -level vision of how technology today and tomorrow will make it possible to achieve our goals. We are interested in a technology and business approach (technologist/analyst) that translates your ideas and products into constructive improvements to the AF/ASC acquisition processes. The emphasis should be on the broad functional capabilities that the IT industry envisions bringing to market over the next five to ten years. We are especially interested in how to integrate the World Wide Web and associated technologies into all of our systems. Along with the Web, we want to emphasize commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions that will fit in and be compliant with DoD and Air Force standards and architectures. Our desire for this conference is to build a sense of excitement and expectation for the possibilities that the future holds. The conference will be held in the WPAFB area on 8-9 November 2001. If your company is interested in participating, please submit an abstract of your proposed presentation to ASC/HP, Barba.Little@wpafb.af.mil, no later than 11 October 2001. Industry presenters will be provided further conference details as plans are finalized. Presenters will be permitted in the conference room only during their presentation. This request for information/ presentations does not imply in any manner that the Air Force intends to award a contract as a result of the request. Furthermore, please be advised that your participation must be gratuitously provided as the Air Force will not pay you or reimburse you in any manner for expenses incurred in providing information/presentations. Thank you in advance for your interest and participation."
