- Description
- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Region 7 (Alaska) intends to negotiate a one year simplified acquisition purchase order with the Yukon Fuel Company. The amount of fuel is of an indefinite quantity but will not exceed the amount for each type designated in the notice below. The Service promises no minimum quantity of fuel purchases. The Service previously synopsized this in the Commerce Business Daily and has found that the Yukon Fuel Company is the only firm logistically capable of performing, delivering, and filling fuel within 48 hours of being called 12 months a year. The areas to which the fuel must be delivered can only be reached by river or air; the river will begin freezing by the end of this month and will remain frozen until late May 2002. Yukon Fuel Company is the only vendor with facilities and tanks serving Galena, Alaska 12 months a year. The Service's requirement follows: (1) AVGAS not to exceed 5,000 gallons, delivered to a 1,000 gallon tank at Alexander Lake; (2) UNLEADED fuel not to exceed 4,500 gallons, delivered to a 1,000 gallon tank at Galena Air Force Base; (3) Heating Fuel (Types 1 and 2 -- seasonally adjusted) not to exceed 5,500 gallons, delivered to multiple 500 and 1,000 gallon tanks adjacent to duplexes, bunkhouses, and quarters located in Galena, New Townsite, and the Air Force Base. The Service has no tank farm and requires the vendor to deliver and pump the fuel within 48 hours of being called by authorized Service personnel. The Service shall pay the standard commercial "best customer" rate for fuel sold in that geographic region. Price per gallon shall include delivery and dispensing. Vendors who feel they have the logistical capability to perform within the requirements above, should contact the Contracting Officer, Gary Goldberg at (907) 786-3408 or by e-mail at Gary_Goldberg@fws.gov no later than October 26, 2001, with details regarding their technical capability and documentation of past performance under similar arduous extreme climatic and remote conditions.
