- Small business sources sought for FSG 72, aluminum fuel bottles. Small business dealers MUST provide products from SMALL DOMESTIC MANUFACTURERES. Item Purchase Desiptions is listed below. Manufacturers must have 1000 employees or less. *************************************************************** NSN 7240-01-351-2133 FUEL BOTTLE, ALUMINUM: Shall be a red aluminum fuel bottle meeting the following requirements: The fuel bottle shall be of one-piece seamless lightweight aluminum construction with a synthetic screw-on cap. The bottle shall have the following characteristics: 1. The bottle shall be cylindrical in shape with a flat bottom and domed top. 2. The bottle shall be 0.975 liter minimum in capacity. 3. The bottle shall be 8.15 cm maximum in diameter. 4. The bottle shall be 26.00 cm maximum in height, not including cap. 5. The bottle shall have a necked opening in the center of the domed top, this opening shall be internally threaded with a minimum of 3 complete threads. The neck shall be a minimum of 1.0 cm in height. 6. The bottle shall be supplied with the cap installed finger tight. The cap shall be composed of synthetic material, recessed, with external threads to match the fuel bottle, a minimum of 4 complete threads, and a gasket to seal the bottle. The cap shall have two vent holes in the threads, 1 mm minimum in diameter, diametrically opposite, positioned within two threads below the gasket. The vent holes and the recessing of the cap shall allow the release of internal pressure within two turns of the gasket lifting off its seat. The cap shall have an integral loop 1.8 cm minimum to 2.2 cm maximum in interior diameter. The gasket recess of the cap shall be configured to keep the gasket in place on the cap when the cap is removed from the bottle. 7. The top of the bottle opening shall be smooth to allow the cap gasket to seal without leakage and without damage to the cap gasket. 8. The exterior color of the bottle shall be red (any shade acceptable). 9. All components, including the exterior finish, the cap, gasket, and any internal or external coatings (optional to the manufacturer) shall be compatible with and not degrade when exposed to normal petroleum based fuels such as gasoline, gasoline/oil mixture, kerosene, Coleman brand "white gas", diesel fuel, fuel oil, etc.; alcohol based fuels; and mixtures of these fuels. 10. The fuel bottle shall not burst when an internal pressure of 400 psia is applied. 11. The fuel bottles shall be clean inside and out, and ready for use when received. 12. The fuel bottles shall be permanently marked on the exterior surface with "fuel" or "fuel bottle" in a conspicuous manner. Other commercial graphics (company name, logo, etc.) printed on the bottle shall be acceptable. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY: The item(s) shall be packaged and packed in accordance with the latest revision of ASTM D 3951, Standard Practice for Commercial Packaging. In addition, the UPC code shall be marked on all shipping containers and shall remain clearly legible. NIB/NISH/FPI suppliers shall be exempt from UPC code requirements. Shipments to the Department of Defense (DOD) shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129. PALLETIZATION: The shipping containers shall be palletized. The pallets shall be 48-inch length x 40-inch width, general purpose, four-way entry, flush stringer, double face non-reversible pallets. The palletized load shall not exceed 2500 pounds in weight. The palletized load shall not overhang the pallet and shall not exceed 53 inches in overall height. Less than half pallet loads or loads shipped by small package carrier need not be palletized. NOTICE: All lumber used inside or outside a shipment shall be BARK FREE. UNITIZATION OF PALLET LOAD: The palletized load shall be unitized and secured to the pallet to insure that the load arrives intact.
