ISSUE DATE: 10/3/01. Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, supervision and disposal necessary for Lead Paint and Asbestos Remediation at U.S. Coast Guard Group Southwest Harbor, Bass Harbor Lighthouse, Bass Harbor, ME (Hancock County). The work includes but is not limited to chemical stripping of all lead paint off all keepers quarters and covered walkway doors, jambs, casing trim, and repainting all deleaded items; remove lead painted cellar stairs and replacing with new; chemically stripping lead paint off cellar rubble foundation walls and applying a plaster skim coat on all walls; furr out cellar brick chimney walls and install new half inch drywall on wood studs; remove existing carpet and install new carpet throughout. Storage shed includes the chemical stripping of (1) entrance door jamb; removing and replacing with new (1) solid wood entrance door and hardware; remove and replace with new (5) vinyl clad wood double hung windows, sill and casing trim; removing all one inch and eight inch lead painted wood fascia trim and one inch x six inch soffit. Replace with new in kind; chemically removing lead paint off wood clapboard siding and repainting and incidental related work. NAICS code is 235990. Estimated cost range is between $25,000 and $100,000. Solicitation packages to be available on or about 10/24/2001. The date for receipt of quotes is on or about 11/20/01 at 4:00 pm local time. THE FOLLOWING NOTICE IS PROVIDED AS INFORMATION FOR MINORITY, WOMEN-OWNED, AND DISADVANTAGED BUSINESS ENTERPRISES: The Dept of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, payment and performance bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short-term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The max. line of credit is $500,000.
