Description

This sources sought synopsis requests information needed by the Government prior to release of any potential solicitation. Details follow-please read this entire synopsis. This is not a request for proposals and in no way obligates the Government to award any contract. The Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division (NAVEODTECHDIV) is requesting information on commercially available, small (two-man portable), untethered, unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) systems and platforms suitable for reacquisition-identification of contacts detected by other platforms, in the Very Shallow Water (VSW) zone (10 -- 40 feet sea water (FSW)). The platforms (vehicles) must possess the potential for integration with identification sensors of future development efforts. This is part of an Analysis of Alternatives study. Performance description information is sought in the form of brochures, specification sheets, and company points of contact. Also of interest are UUVs and platforms currently under development that are planned to become available in the 2004/2005 timeframe. Design proposals requiring developmental funding are not of interest at this time. This announcement serves to facilitate development of the RFP, and is NOT a formal solicitation and is NOT a request for proposals. Availability of the formal solicitation will be announced separately. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes ONLY, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government.
