Description
66-The US Army CECOM Acquisition Center -- Washington intends to award a firm fixed price order for a quantity of fourteen (14) M1A1 RES RF System Cable Sets. The main components of the RES are the Vehicle RF System (VRFS), the Tower FLIR System and the Tower Video Equipment. The VRFS Cable Set is a flexible, rugged cable set that contains individual conductors or signal paths that provide power to the transmitter unit, control signals for video format, and individual video/audio lines. During operational usage, the cable set is subjected to numerous stresses including extreme temperature fluctuations and high shock and vibration values. The cable should utilize military style connectors for physical integrity and reliability to ensure maximum operational readiness. The cable should be designed to permit repair and update by utilizing removable connector backshells. The backshells should provide sufficient strain relief to prevent damage to the cable or connectors during use. The cable should use a conduit design consisting of an inner, convoluted tubing to protect the wires and a phosphor bronze mesh braid over the tubing to provide EMI protection. An outer jacket of Hypalon rubber should be used to provide protection from fluids or other elements to which the cables may be exposed. Also, identification labels should be used on each cable leg to provide interconnect information to the user. The period of performance will be approximately six (6) months. Responses should be no longer than two 92) pages. Responses are to be received via e-mail by close of business 25 October 2001. All requests for further information must be in writing or via e-mail, telephone requests for additional information will not be honored. You should forward e-mail responses to the following e-mail address: susie.shupe@cacw.army.mil. Acknowledgement of receipt will be issued.
