- Description
- Northrop Grumman Ryan Aeronautical Center (NG RAC), the Global Hawk prime contractor, is conducting advanced market research for high-altitude, long stand-off range electro- optical and infrared (EO/IR) sensors for potential use in the Global Hawk high-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicle system. Future system architectures are under consideration to allow for growth and reconfiguration of Imagery Intelligence (IMINT) sensors in support of multi- intelligence (multi-INT) sensor configurations and expanded day and night intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. The architectures supporting expanded ISR roles for sensors (expanded fields of regard, range of operation, cross- cueing, etc.) need to be compatible with proposed signals intelligence (SIGINT) and other IMINT sensors in the multi- INT concepts of operations. However, candidate sensors must satisfy current and planned Global Hawk sensor payload size, weight, and power (SWaP), environmental, mechanical, and electrical interface constraints. Finally, imagery products and data formats must also be consistent with current and planned National Imagery Transmission Format Standards (NITFS) and Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) architectures. Interested firms are invited to receive a Global Hawk briefing and to present information regarding their currently available and planned EO/IR sensor systems at the Global Hawk EO/IR Sensor Industry Day forum. Global Hawk team members will present a program and sensor overview briefing in a group meeting. Later in the same day, private meetings may be scheduled for interested firms to present details of their sensor product. Private presentations should address the firm s concept for providing an improved Global Hawk sensor, details of their sensor performance and SWaP, the source of data used to develop performance and SWaP projections (modeling and simulation, flight test data, flight operations, etc.), and cost and development schedule information. The private meetings will be scheduled at the end of the group meeting, and the private meetings will be not longer than 45 minutes. NG RAC will retain a copy of all briefing material and supporting documents. This information will be used to prepare an industry day report and for planning purposes. NG RAC may contact firms for additional information. There is a potential to participate in a follow-on initial design and integration study and/or sensor demonstration. All briefings, materials, and supporting documentation will be classified no higher than the Secret level. Due to seating limitations, each interested firm is limited to no more than three representatives at the group meeting. NG RAC plans to host the Global Hawk EO/IR Sensor Industry Day on or about 27 November 2001 in the Dayton, Ohio area. Firms interested in attending industry day must contact Ms. Nancy Kirby, NG RAC, at (858) 618-4100, E-Mail address: GH_Industry_Day @ryanaero.com not later than 26 October 2001. Receiving an invitation is contingent on the interested firm submitting a Department of Defense collateral Secret (or higher) level security certification, submitting visit requests, executing a non-disclosure agreement with NG RAC, and identifying the firm s existing EO/IR sensor system that is in production or development which is applicable to the Global Hawk high-altitude, long stand-off range mission. Additional industry day information will be provided in the NG RAC invitation letter.
