Description
The U.S Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), Office of Research and Development (ORD), is seeking a qualified Health Physicist to perform the following services: Conduct wipe tests and inspections, on equipment, and in areas where radioisotopes are used or stored monthly or quarterly. The contractor shall assist with routine audit/inspections of approximately 40 separate areas in which radioactive materials are used or stored to check compliance with protocols and NRC regulations. The contractor shall maintain and provide quarterly updates for the inventory of all radioactive materials including sealed and unsealed sources. The contractor shall wipe test all sealed and unsealed radiation sources semi-annually (approx 200 sources for testing). The contractor shall be responsible for preparing radioactive waste for shipment to approved radioactive disposal site. The contractor shall perform wipe tests of the individual laboratory storage areas after radioactive wastes are picked up or packaged. The Government will provide the materials (Government Furnished Property), that the contractor shall utilize to conduct wipe tests, decontaminations, radioactive contamination and radiation exposure control, packaging of waste and other monitoring tests/surveys etc., as required. The contractor shall maintain a sanitary condition and conduct inspections on a monthly basis in the radiation storage areas. The contractor shall pick up packaged ashes from the incineration of animal carcasses which have contained radioactive material. The contractor shall distribute and collect the dosimeters (TLDs or rings) for approximately 100 persons and areas. The contractor shall assist in maintaining radiation safety files. The contractor shall provide for bioassay monitoring (i.e. urine analysis, internal dosimetry calculations, etc.), for specific radionuclides. The contractor shall provide an average of approximately 42 hours per month in health physics support services, th distribution of hours per month to be determined by the Radiation Safety Officer or Project Officer. All services to be performed at the EPA facilities in Cincinnati, Ohio, including AWBERC, E&E and Center Hill. The EPA has set this action aside for SMALL BUSINESSES. The applicable NAICS Code is 54169. This requirement if for a Base Year and Two (2) one (1) Year Options. All responsible sources may submit a WRITTEN request for a "Request for Quotation" (RFQ).
