Description

The GLAC (US Dept of Veterans Affairs, Great Lakes Acquisition Center) is planning to negotiate a sole source contract with WebLink Wireless of Westchester IL for pager lease and service for the Hines IL VA Hospital for the period 1/1/02 through 9/30/02, plus one, one-year option to renew. This includes the lease of approximately 700 pagers, both numeric and alphanumeric; provision of air time; 24 x 7 service; additional and replacement pagers within 24 hours; Flex Technology; and ACC Control Center. This is considered to be a sole source because the incumbent contractor has only been providing these services for less than a year, and changing contractors for pagers is very disruptive and time-consuming for hospital staff, requires training on the new pagers, and results in high levels of dissatisfaction from hospital staff. Only the incumbent can continue to provide these services without disruption. The new contract, in combination with the current contract, will together run for about 3 years, which is a reasonable amount of time over which to absorb the in-house costs and disruption resulting from a change of contractors. NAICS number is 513321. Size standard is 1500 employees. Other sources that believe they can meet VA needs, without disruption to pager service and to hospital staff, must furnish information about their products and services, as well as references, to this office by no later than 2:00 PM on November 5, 2001.
