Description

This is a synopsis for a commercial item. The Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) intends to award a simplified acquisition on a sole-source basis to the Standard & Poor's for electronic access to Standard & Poor's CUSIP master data file. The SEC requires CUSIP data, including 9-character CUSIP numbers and standardized descriptions, in electronic format. The CUSIP system is a standard numbering and descriptive methodology utilized throughout the financial community for identifying securities. SEC staff uses CUSIP information to conduct investigations and enforcement actions, as well as to perform examinations and inspections. The CUSIP data must be organized in three files (Issuer, Issue and Issue Attributes) and must be available for transmission via ftp (file transfer protocol). The master file must be delivered to initialize service. Updates must also be delivered in the same format as the master file. The data updates must be available intraday, daily and weekly.
