Description

This is a Special Notice that the U.S. DOT / Volpe Center is performing market research in transit bus design for an inner-city shuttle type transit system. An invitation is being extended by this notice for interested parties to display a 30-foot or 32-foot transit bus during November 13 and 14, 2001, between 10 am and 2 pm est. at the Adams National Historical Park Visitor s Center located at 1250 Hancock St. Quincy, MA. The Volpe Center will be looking for buses that include the following characteristics: 1)Low floor (no steps required for boarding) with kneeling capability and ramp; 2) Rear mounted Cummins diesel engine; 3)27-foot or smaller minimum turning radius; 4)New condition; 5)40-inch minimum door width; 6)Insulated floors; 7)Tinted windows; 8)Air suspension ride; 9)Minimum he adroom of 7-foot 6-inches; 10)Altoona Testing results must be made available; 11)ADA compliant; 12)Designed for city-type transit. During the demonstration the buses will need to drive the current transportation circuit, which is a three-mile loop through Quincy city streets.
