Description
The Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, 1500 Weiss Street, Saginaw, Michigan has a requirement for an on-site Cardiologist to conduct a Cardiology clinic approximately one day per week with the possibility of expanding to two days per week depending on workload. The contractor shall provide a Board Certified Cardiologist to conduct scheduled clinics. Clinic responsibilities shall encompass the performance of initial consults and needed follow-up visits, to include diagnosis, creation of a plan of care, treatment and patient education. These activities shall be documented in the electronic medical record. The patient shall be discharged from the Cardiology Clinic to the Primary Care provider when treatment goals have been met, or on-going care can be transitioned to the Primary Care setting. The contractor shall admit patients as medically indicated, and manage all aspects of care. On-call status is required, to evaluate or admit patients, or provide cardiological post-operative care and management for cases performed by the contractor. The contractor must be able to respond telephonically to emergencies within 20 minutes. Contractor shall provide back-up coverage at all times. The contractor shall be required to use the electronic medical record and dictation system. Training will be provided by the VAMC. The contractor shall review, sign and abide by the VAMC Bylaws, Rules and Regulations. The contractor shall be required to perform the following procedures on-site: echocardiogram interpretation, intravenous sedation, supervise intravenous sedation, topical anesthesia, cardioversion, stress test, stress cardiolite test, stress adenosine test, transesophogeal echocardiogram, carotid Doppler interpretation, lower extremity Doppler interpretation, insertion of temporary pacemakers, central venous line, pulmonary artery line, arterial line, and EKG interpretation. The contractor shall request specific priviliges for other operative or invasive procedures. Granting of privileges shall be based on patient safety, and availability of resources, to include OR and anesthesia. Procedures that cannot be performed on site shall be referred to a tertiary VA. Decisions for care to be delivered in the community shall be made by the Chief of Staff, Chief of Surgery, or their designee. The Physician will have responsibility for but not limited to ordering diagnostic tests as indicated, prescribe medications, and perform ambulatory surgical procedures. The Physician must: a. Have an unrestricted license in a US state, territory or US commonwealth; b. Speak English proficiently; c. Provide evidence of demonstrated current clinical competence to perform appropriate outpatient care services; d. Be a US citizen; e. *Be Board Certified; f. Have a professional degree and education applicable to medical staff members, e.g., MD, DO; g. Provide evidence of current professional liability insurance; h. Evidence of current privileges (if applicable); i. Names of most current employer(s) and two peer reference contacts; j. Current copy of BLS certifications; k. Be a team player; l. Must be computer literate, as the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center utilizes a computerized patient medical record.
