Description
DESC: Synopsis: This is an insurance policy acquisition. We anticipate a Firm Fixed Price type contract for CUSHIONING PADS, NSN: 5340-01-336-9214BL, P/N: 9032002-10, applicable to the LAU-106A/A AMRAAM launcher. There is a Mission Essential (MEQ) quantity of seventy (70) each, a Production quantity of twenty-three (23) each with one (1) First Article expended in testing. There are four (4) out-year option periods with ranges of 1-50 each. Material: Aluminum Alloy with .064 thickness of flexane 80 coating on the interface. Function: Cushioning pad works as interface spacer on the launcher's forward foot to accommodate the AMRAAM missile. Dimensions: .324" thick Aluminum Alloy 2" X 12" bent to 180 degree curve to 2" X 4" X 8". NOTE: Insurance policy procedures provide the Government the means of competing the maximum practical quantity of a requirement while acquiring an MEQ from a proven source to ensure continued mission support during the production capability validation from an unproven source. This critical cushioning pad is determined to be of such complexity that first article testing measures are required for all unproven sources. Additionally, a break in the supply of this item (that is, failure to deliver due to timeliness and/or conformance) would seriously impact the mission capability or cause serious damage or harm. This cushioning pad is required when loading AIM-120 missiles on the LAU-106A/A eject launchers. Due to urgency and need for expeditious delivery of these pads, if delivery is not from a qualified source that can provide a timely delivery, missile support could be severely jeopardized affecting the Air Force's ability to support a national emergency or wartime need. The approximate solicitation issue date will be 04 Dec 2001 with the approximate response date of 03 Jan 2002. No hard copies of solicitation will be issued.
