Description
The office of the Project Manager Mines Countermine and Demolition is conducting a Market Investigation in conjunction with validation of the operational requirements for an Obstacle Marking System (OMS). This announcement is a request for information, not an offer for acquisition. It will be used to determine the availability of non-developmental items to meet the government's needs. The OMS will be a simple, standard obstacle marking system that minimizes marking delay, avoids the unnecessary exposure of soldiers to hazardous conditions, reduces the troop labor burden, and facilitates movement through or around obstacles. The (OMS) envisioned is an automatic or semi-automatic mechanism, which can be adapted to fit a wide variety of host vehicles and marki ng missions in all types of units. The vehicle-mounted OMS will mark the initial lanes through minefields or bypass lanes around obstacles to permit the safe passage of friendly forces. The system will mark obstacles identified by detection systems or veh icle lanes created by mine plows, blades, breaches, or other neutralization equipment employed by the breach force. In addition, OMS will also be used independently or with other equipment to mark the perimeter of minefields, Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) res tricted zones, NBC contaminated areas, or other hazardous sites. If you have the capability of meeting the OMS requirement and are interested in providing information concerning your system, please provide cost, schedule, performance, maturity and availab ility of your system. Based on your information, you may be asked to answer additional questions regarding your system. Please provide your response electronically by 15 Jan 02 and include the name, address, telephone and fax number for your point of con tact to peggy.melanson@cacw.army.mil.
