NOAA IT Security Conference Building 4 Science Center/Auditorium Silver Spring, Maryland Wednesday, December 5, 2001 Facility Mission: The primary purpose of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is to explore, map and chart the global ocean and its living resources. It oversees conservation of ocean resources and assesses the consequences of environmental developments over time. NOAA describes, monitors and predicts conditions in the atmosphere, ocean, sun and space environment, and it issues warnings against impending destructive natural events. In addition, the administration provides satellite observation. Major NOAA Organizations: Approximately 4,000 personnel from the National Weather Service, the National Environmental Satellite, Data & Information Service, the National Marine Fisheries Service, the National Ocean Service, the Office of Oceanic & Atmospheric Research. Target Audience: All personnel are invited including the IT Security Group, Information Systems, the Systems Acquisition Office, the Information Technology Acquisition Office and the High Performance Computing & Communications Office. Security professionals from throughout the U.S. Department of Commerce will also be attending.
