Description
R-U. S. Department of Commerce (DOC), International Trade Administration (ITA), Special American Business Internship Training, SABIT Program, is managing specialized and grant programs which train managers and scientists from Russia and other new Independent States of the former Soviet Union. SABIT oversees the training and program development for each of the groups. The program assistant will assist program staff managing grants, specialized programs, and office requirements. SABIT has a requirement for one individual to serve 40 hours per week (core hours: M-F, 9-5) as program assistant for the training program. The contract will begin immediately upon final selection of the candidate and will extend for one year. The contractor will work at the Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. Procurement will begin on or about January 2002, and continue until December 2002. The contractor shall be responsible for assisting program teams to manage and run specialized training programs, providing support including, but not limited to: company recruiting, travel and hotel arrangement, visa issues. Drafting and tracking travel documentation, managing hospitality, fielding intern requests, and updating the database, compiling and arranging travel schedules for the interns. Act as a liaison between SABIT and other DOC offices, including: building Security, Building Management, Office of Printing, Budget, SATO Travel Agency and others. Explain and market SABIT program to interested US companies, and send out program information. Provide administrative support Communicate logistical aspects of the program to the public and others involved in the training programs. Accompany training groups while in Washington D. C. Compile and draft success stories from feedback from SABIT interns and U. S. Host companies, Send weekly report to MAC staff. Incorporate these into the SABIT database. Requirements for this position are 1. Baccalaureate degree in Russian studies or related field. 2. Knowledge of history, government, demographics, and policies in the NIS. 3. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, in Russian. 4. Excellent writing skills and attention to detail. 5. Ability to perform liaison functions among various organizations involved in the SABIT programs as well as Department of Commerce employees. 6. Strong organizational skills, in particular the ability to coordinate all administrative logistics involved in SABIT specialized programs, including but not limited to the arrangement of all transportation, lodging and travel documents. 7. Strong administrative skills such as typing, filing of information related to the specialized program, database management, coordination of mass mailings, merging computer files, and responding to requests for information on the programs. 8. Strong intercultural communications skills. 9. Ability to work independently on assignments, prioritize projects and efficiently manage time. 10. Knowledge of wordperfect, MS Office package, Database programs. 11. A professional mannerism and the ability to work directly with U. S. host companies.
