Description

The Office of Naval Research has a requirement for assistance for up to five years in the administration of a summer faculty research program. Purpose of the program is to promote and increase the participation of faculty of Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority Institutions (HBCU/MI) in DoD/Navy summer research activities. Contractor shall provide necessary expertise in Science, Engineering, and Mathematics disciplines to solicit applications and to assist in matching HBCU/MI faculty candidates with Navy laboratories to carry out specific proposed research opportunities. This competition is limited to HBCU/MIs with the necessary experience, personnel, and infrastructure to perform the required assistance. The anticipated cost of this assistance is approximately $50,000 per year. These services have been provided for the past several years by a contract with Hampton University, Virginia, and that institution is expected to offer to perform the needed assistance. Other interested HBCU/MIs, if they wish to be considered, should provide the following: (a) concise description of the institution?s depth and breadth of staff experience in performing the needed assistance and in administering programs of the type listed above; (b) knowledge of HBCU/MI research community; and (c) a list of customers receiving like administrative support within the last two years, including names of agency or company, points of contact, description of support, and customer phone numbers. Responses should be limited to three pages and must be received by the Office of Naval Research by Friday, December 7, 2001.*****
