Description

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (US EPA) National Risk Management Research Laboratory, Subsurface Protection and Remediation Division, located at the Robert S. Kerr Environmental Research Center in Ada, OK, is seeking to acquire a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) for mineralogical and biological characterization of materials collected from natural and engineered systems. The basic system shall consist of an electron optical unit, specimen stage, an evacuation system, and a computer for instrument control, data acquisition and analysis. The SEM must be fully compatible with an existing Oxford Instruments Model 6587 EDS Unit. The proposed acquisition shall include the following: (A) Firm Fixed Price -- FFP, (B) Installation within 30 days after delivery at Ada, OK, (C) on-site training covering total system operations within a month after completing the installation to at least 1 operator, (D) Delivery within 150 days of award, (E) One year warranty. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be evaluated and considered by EPA. This is a small business set-aside. This procurement will be processed under FAR Part 12, Commercial Items. The SIC is 3826, the small business size standard is 500 employees. It is anticipated that requests for quotations shall be issued around 12/12/01, with quotes due around 01/02/02.
